Source and methodology

How rubbish removal is priced in Australia

Rubbish removal is priced by volume, by weight, or by the load, and the type of waste matters as much as the amount. Green waste is cheap to tip if kept separate; mixed loads are charged at the general rate; heavy construction waste costs the most, particularly in states with weight-based landfill levies. Mattresses, tyres and e-waste attract per-item fees. Skip bins are cheaper if you load them yourself; trucks with crews cost more but do the carrying.

Many councils run bulky waste collections or tip vouchers that handle a lot of household junk for free. Asbestos can never go with general rubbish and must be handled by a licensed removalist. Ask where the load will be tipped; illegal dumping fines follow the rubbish back to the owner.

Estimate or verified?

Here rubbish removal prices on this page are modelled estimates using existing guide assumptions, without a reconciled source dataset. An observed range is published only when its numbers are computed from at least 10 eligible submissions with matching scope, tax and materials treatment. Quotes and paid invoices are kept separate.
